Our Welfare to Work team provide tailored intensive support activities for customers who have been made or are under threat of redundancy to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to regain employment.

A high proportion of these individuals are unfamiliar with being unemployed, especially when the pool of available jobs is shrinking and a tightening labour market means they will need to think laterally about alternative employment.

We work in conjunction with Jobcentre Plus to provide personal advice and guidance sessions to newly unemployed customers. The objective of this extensive consultation is to carry out a personalised career evaluation, identify and apply to a suitable position and develop a short term action plan that includes ongoing career advice.

Our courses are delivered by appropriately qualified careers consultants and include:

Skills Review - understanding transferability and identifying, valuing and marketing skills
CV Review – advice on application forms, covering letters, and CVs
Interviewing - Interview skills and techniques
Online Recruitment - identifying key online resources and how to use them effectively
Action Planning – creating a bespoke ‘SMART’ Action Plan

Our aim is for attendees to leave us with a better understanding of their options in the labour market, utilising market research skills including use of the internet and with a realistic plan for further action.
